As of April 3rd, Illuvium has reinstated its $ILV rewards across various game modes, marking a significant achievement for the web3 title. This development follows a comprehensive overhaul of its in-game economy, systems, and gameplay, now featuring the Unified Fuel system. This update not only introduces a new economic framework but also revives Overworld runs, enhances the Arena Gauntlet, and incorporates fresh competitive opportunities for players to earn rewards.

Understanding the Illuvium Unified Fuel System

The Unified Fuel system consolidates the previous fuel types—Crypton, Hyperion, and Solon—into a single, simplified currency that is utilized across most Illuvium games. This unified Fuel, priced at a steady $0.01 by the Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), streamlines expenditure planning for players while safeguarding the in-game economy from volatile price fluctuations. Additionally, landholders in Illuvium Zero will now receive ETH payouts based on the amount of Fuel they burn in comparison to the entire player community. Previous Fuel balances have been migrated, ensuring equitable purchasing power through established conversion ratios.

Before these enhancements could be implemented, the development team temporarily suspended Overworld Runs and the Fuel Exchange on February 28th. This hiatus facilitated crucial testing on the Sepolia Testnet, allowing the team to evaluate the new systems and gather valuable player feedback. Although Arena functionality remained active, Overworld gameplay was unavailable for an entire month until the March 28th release of patch v1.8.0.c, which reinstated access fully supported by the Unified Fuel system.

$ILV Rewards Make a Comeback with New Earning Avenues

The restructured framework allowed for the official reintroduction of $ILV rewards on April 3rd. As players enter Week 2, they can now earn $ILV through diverse in-game activities. The Arena’s Ranked Gauntlet mode rewards the top 100 players with 200 ILV weekly, while the Overworld and ADR Bounty Hunt Leaderboard offers an additional 200 ILV for adept Illuvial hunters. Participants in Gauntlet matches can also receive Fuel as bonus drops, with the top four finishers in a match having a 30% chance to earn Fuel if they satisfy specific gameplay criteria, such as reaching Round 16 and maintaining a rating above 1200.

Raffles Introduce a Fresh Competitive Element

Illuvium has introduced a new raffle system linked to performance in the Ranked Gauntlet. Players who rank among the top six in a qualifying match and do not surrender earn a raffle ticket. Every two weeks, five winners are randomly chosen to share a prize pool of 200 ILV. The reward distribution varies, with first place receiving 100 ILV and fifth place getting 10 ILV. To promote fairness and deter multi-account farming, the raffle employs a “Quadratic Correction System,” which increases the chances of winning for players who consolidate their tickets to a single account.

Automated Drone Runs (ADR) Elevate Overworld Gameplay

The return of rewards coincides with the launch of Automated Drone Runs in the Overworld. These allow players to quickly gather batches of Illuvials without having to traverse the map. ADR can accommodate both rapid collection and high-tier hunts, depending on the strategy and budget of the player. The points earned from these drones contribute directly to the Bounty Hunt Leaderboard, with scores reflecting the rarity and quality of the Illuvials captured. Rare Holo or Dark Holo creatures significantly enhance leaderboard performance.

To better manage the expanding array of rewards, Illuvium is introducing a new Rewards Dashboard. This feature will enable players to claim their ILV or Fuel earnings from all game modes and select their preferred reward currency. Week 1 leaderboard snapshots were captured on April 9th, with payouts expected to commence shortly through this new system.

Currently, the price of $ILV hovers around $11.78, implying that each weekly leaderboard pool is valued at nearly $2,356, supplemented by additional earnings available through the bi-weekly raffle and daily Fuel Drops. For players consistently advancing in the ranks, these rewards can accumulate substantially.

How to Get Started and Earn

Entering the game is straightforward. It is free to play and can be accessed via the Epic Games Store. New players can register using Immutable Passport and dive into Arena Ranked matches or Overworld Drone Runs to start competing. With leaderboard resets occurring every Thursday, players have weekly opportunities to elevate their rank and claim rewards.

Future Developments for Illuvium

Looking ahead, Illuvium has plans for further enhancements. A Leviathan Gauntlet leaderboard is in the works, specifically targeting players interested in high-stakes competition. Additionally, the Illuvium Zero leaderboard will be launching soon, offering 100 ILV weekly to the top land managers. The much-anticipated Battle Pass system is set to debut within the next two months, providing cosmetic items, tournament access, and bonus rewards.

On April 10th, the Illuvium team will host a Town Hall event at 20:00 UTC, featuring co-founder Kieran Warwick alongside co-game directors Trevor and Steven. They will present upcoming features for the MMO-lite version of Overworld, including multiplayer capabilities, breach combat, and new ranger gear systems.
